* WATCH OUT THE LATTEST PHOTOGRAPHS OF SALMA HAYAK AND ALOS READ HER INTERVIEW.

Salma Hayek has given birth to a girl.

The Ugly Betty producer and her businessman fiance Francois Henri Pinault welcomed daughter Valentina Paloma Pinault into the world on Friday.

Salma's publicist Cari Ross said: "Mother and daughter are doing well."
No other information about the birth has been released.
This is Salma's first child, while Pinault has two children from a previous marriage that ended in 2004.
Salma, 41, was secretly dating the wealthy Frenchman - who is the chief executive of PPR, the company that owns Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent and a series of other French retail chains - before she announced her engagement and confirmed she was expecting his baby in March.
Earlier this year, Salma revealed she had no fears about becoming a mother and insisted she was glad she hadn't rushed into starting a family.
The stunning brunette said: "Motherhood is not for everyone. It is for me, but there's no reason women should feel rushed to have a child."

* Mobile Handset Users Unsatisfied

A study on the India Mobile Handset Usage and Satisfaction 2007 by International Data Corporation (IDC) revealed that the overall satisfaction score of mobile handset users has declined for the first time in 3 years. Three companies that managed to remain above the industry average (in order of user satisfaction) are Sony Ericsson, Motorola, and Nokia.
Motorola has also emerged as the most improved brand on satisfaction consistently over the last 3 years. Meanwhile, mobile handset users opine that mobile phones have become easier to use. Also, phones now have better voice clarity and longer battery life. Therefore, the satisfaction on these 3 parameters has increased as compared to 2006 and 2005.

However, there are 2 parameters on which satisfaction has come down significantly: internal memory and entertainment. The IDC study pointed out that 3 main entertainment features -- integrated digital camera, music player, and stereo FM radio -- typically drive users to upgrade their handsets. These features have been available in mid- and high-end handsets; but now, there's a demand for these features in even the more affordable handsets.

According to Shailendra Gupta, senior manager (Consumer Research) of IDC India, the average price paid for the current handset by the typical Indian mobile user is Rs.3,700. And the "incremental spend" for the next handset is roughly Rs.3,200, which means that the user is willing to spend Rs.6,900 for their next handset. Significantly, this price point has declined in the past 3 years.
The study indicates that typically, a mobile handset is used for 56 minutes a day for voice communication -- an increase of 5 minutes over the 51 minutes per day a year ago. In addition, SMS usage has continued to increase in last 3 years. Today, the average SMS user sends 8 SMSes a day. This overall increase in SMS usage can be attributed to tariff charges and widespread usage of SMS by TV shows' public opinion polls -- which has been increasing year-on-year.

* HOTTEST PERSONALITY IN TOWN JHON

He is rumoured to have a soured relationship with co-star Arshad Warsi and split from long-time girlfriend Bipasha Basu, but John Abraham is unfazed by the grapevine buzz. The actor, busy shooting abroad and pursuing his international goals, says his inaccessibility to the media fans the rumours.

'I'm inaccessible to the media when I'm shooting abroad. So I'm sure the stories come from those who are accessible from abroad. You know what I mean? When I'm consumed by my work I don't like to focus on other things,' John told IANS.

'It's sad when incorrect things are written about me. I want people who read this interview to know I'm not a vindictive person. I have no clue who is spreading the rumours. I've been out of the country and pretty much disconnected with what's being said and spread,' said John, who is proud to be part of Deepa Mehta's international project Luna.

'Deepa has shown a lot of faith in me. Talks were on for Luna. Mine is a beautifully etched role. I play an activist. The heartening thing is my nationality isn't even mentioned. And my character's name isn't Indian.
'Excerpts:
Q: You seem to have been out of circulation for so long...?
A: That was by choice. I would rather be seen than heard. I've always believed in working quietly and not making tall claims. I always said roles abroad would happen when they happen. At the end of the day Bollywood is my home. I'm damn lucky to be getting all these opportunities. The film industry has been very kind to me. I love the movies!

Q: In Deepa Mehta's Luna you're cast in a mainstream Hollywood film as a mainstream hero.
A: You think so? A lot of people were taken by surprise. At Cannes, UTV's Ronnie Screwvala was next to me when the announcement was made on stage. He was as surprised as anyone else.Deepa has shown a lot of faith in me. Talks were on for Luna. But everything came together formally at Cannes. I'm very delighted my co-star is Rachel Weisz. What a performance she gave in The Constant Gardner. Mine is a beautifully etched role in Luna. I play an activist. The heartening thing is my nationality isn't even mentioned. And my character's name isn't Indian.I met Julia Hill on whose life Luna will be based. She was amazing. We think of activists as mature and boring. Julia is a fun 27-year-old, funky yet passionate about her work.

Q: Julia Hill thinks you resemble Antonio Banderas.
A: I come from a completely different cultural space. But you do feel flattered when you're compared with a good-looking Hollywood icon like Banderas. I'm not even two percent of what he is.

Q: Goal in London was quite eventful.
A: So I'm informed by the media. It was fun. We've seven-eight days of patchwork to do, and we're complete.

Q: What about your problems with Arshad Warsi?
A: It's sad when incorrect things are written about me. I want people who read this interview to know I'm not a vindictive person. I'm not going to sit here and clarify my non-existent problems. Every one in the unit would vouch for that. Neither Arshad nor I have spoken against each other. I have no clue who is spreading the rumours. I've been out of the country and pretty much disconnected with what's being said and spread.

Q: Do you think your general inaccessibility fuels such stories?
A: It's true I'm inaccessible to the media when I'm shooting abroad. So I'm sure the stories come from those who are accessible from abroad. You know what I mean? When I'm consumed by work I don't like to focus on other things.

Q: Even Bipasha Basu was dragged into your supposed fight with Arshad.
A: Bipasha is a woman of substance. Everything is black or white for her. We are straight, honest and clean. That's all I want to say about this.

Q: Earlier, you were supposed to have problems with Salman Khan?
A: I personally have no problems with anybody. I don't speak against anyone. One reason why I'm surviving in the industry is because I feel no sense of insecurity. I enjoy my space. I enjoy what I'm doing. I want my films to be inspirational. I want people to go back from No Smoking, Aashayein and Goal entertained and enlightened.

* WILL OM SHANTI OM BECOME A BIG HIT

Album: Om Shanti Om

Music Director: Vishal-Shekhar
Singers: Shreya Ghoshal, Shaan, Sonu Nigam, K.K., Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Richa Sharma, Sunidhi Chauhan, Udit Narayan, Sukhwinder, Caralisa, Marianne D'Cruz, Nisha Mascarenhas, Rahul Saxena, Abhijeet
Ratings:
***Farah Khan's second directorial venture is ready to hit the theatres. While the movie is a much-anticipated one, the music is getting mixed reviews from all over.Composed by the contemporary duo Vishal-Shekhar, the soundtrack of Om Shanti Om is an amalgamation of songs that belong to an earlier age.

Already doing the rounds of the small screen and making hearts go aflutter is Ajab si - doused completely in romance, the song by K.K. has this unconventionally youthful tune attached to it. K.K. is as usual flawless while the lyrics are sweet and innovative.

Taking a complete U-turn is the track titled Dard-e-disco. Rendered by Sukhwinder and assisted by Caralisa, Marianne D'Cruz and Nisha Mascarenhas, the number is very close to being a disaster.

Shaan renders Dastaan-e-Om-Shanti-Om, which reminds one so much of the evergreen 'Ek hasina thi'. The musical ensemble seems elaborate and the track has a 50-50 chance of doing well.
Deewangi deewangi boasts of a gang of singers including Shaan, Rahul Saxena, Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan and Udit Narayan, some of the best of the lot. In the song, music from the yesteryears has been fused with contemporary tones. Javed Akhtar's lyrics add to the journey into the past.

Dhoom Tana makes it difficult for one to say whether it will be an out and out success or just fade away. Abhijeet and Shreya do a good job of rendering Javed Akhtar's lyrics, and Vishal-Shekhar's music doesn't disappoint either, yet the overall appeal of the track leaves you wanting.

Jag soona soona lage boasts of singers like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Richa Sharma, who with their powerful voices enthral the masses. Javed saab's lyrics contribute to the heart-breaking theme of the song where melody plays a huge role and Rahat Fateh's soulful and passionate voice completes the circle.
Continuing with the theme of creating music belonging to a completely different era, Vishal-Shekhar rope in Sonu Nigam and Shreya for Main agar kahoon. A mushy and romantic song, it encompasses doses of sweet nothings written by Javed Akhtar. It will find instant fans who may, however, back off after a while.
Fragments of all the tracks in the soundtrack are put together to form Om Shanti Om, a medley mix. This should be a treat for anyone who has loved each and every song in the album. Who else would download it?Despite a few problems, Om Shanti Om is a sure winner!

* CHAKH DE INDIA, CHECK INDIA WINNING THE 20-20 WORLD CUP ALL PHOTOGRAPHS

T20 will become huge in India, says DhoniAFP Monday, September 24, 2007 11:07:31 PMIndian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni predicted that Twenty20 will catch fire with a vengeance back home following his team's unexpected victory in the first-ever ICC World Twenty20 on Monday.Dhoni, whose side had only ever played one Twenty20 international before the tournament in South Africa, said the public could not fail to be excited by the new format even if the Indian cricket authorities initially appeared luke warm."I think it will catch up in India as people love sixes, fours and excitement," said Dhoni whose big-hitting style had already made him an icon back home before his recent elevation to the captaincy."Before now, there's not been much Twenty20 but it will catch up and be huge in India," he added after their five-run victory over arch rivals Pakistan in the final. The two-week tournament has changed the face of limited overs international cricket, with the packed houses and tight finishes in stark contrast to the bloated six-week 50 over World Cup held in the Caribbean earlier in the year.Dhoni admitted that India's first-round exit in the West Indies had spurred on his young charges this time round, adding that their chances had also been boosted by the lack of expectations placed on them."There was a determination among us to do well as we had not done so in the last World Cup. Nothing much was expected of, there was no pressure -- that's why we were victorious."India's victory was particularly unheralded given the absence of star batsmen such as Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar who all decided to take a rest before punishing home series against Australia and Pakistan. While Dhoni has been confirmed as captain for 50-over internationals, India are still without a coach five months after Australian Greg Chappell resigned.Dhoni refused to be drawn on whether a coach was actually needed, laughing: "No comment."Meanwhile Dhoni's fellow newcomer as an international skipper, Pakistan's Shoaib Malik, admitted he would have a struggle on his hands to get his young charges to adjust to the rigours of five-day Test cricket when they host South Africa in just one week's time in Karachi."It's a bit difficult to come to Test cricket after they score bang-bang," Malik told reporters."But we are professionals and we will have a meeting and I will tell the guys: 'Please, it's Test cricket'."Malik said Pakistan had every reason to be proud of their performance in getting to the final of the tournament, regardless of their eventual defeat.Pakistan have suffered a nightmare last year which has included the death of their coach Bob Woolmer, the resignation of their skipper Inzamam ul-Haq and a drugs scandal."It's a great achievement for Pakistan," said Malik. "When we started we were not considered one of the favourites and we have come a long way."
